Eye Candy
03:53
|
|||
well, i got myself a problem for sure
just about as bad as they come
ain't a problem with drinking, taxes, or thinking
but it'll hurt ya like a son of a gun
you see there is one thing for which i have
the most high finest of taste
i wouldn't say i'm high-falutin but i get a-rootin tootin
when it gets up in my face
i'm afraid it's the truth it's just like they say
i gotta sweet tooth for a little bit of eye candy
well, i been to china and i been to france
i been all over the world
i seen latino daughters and afro-hoochie mamas
so i know i ain't alone
you see there's color, shape, style, and size
and those are all subject to change
but my particular persuasion in each and every nation
it always stays the same
if you got sugar then boys is on their way
cause everybody loves a little bit of that eye candy
pretty ladies all around
got me singing
woohoo woohoo
pretty ladies gather 'round
get y'all singing
woohoo woohoo
years ago in the garden of eden
when adam busted out on the scene
he said something is a-missing and it ain't no snake a-hissing
and i think you know just what i mean
god said hold the phone then he grabbed a bone
got to fixin up a new recipe
he said you might up and regret it but here's yourself a present
and some luck cause that's what you need
lord knows what all happened that day
but you know my boy got some fig leaf wrapped eye candy
about a week ago i was walking the town
when this broad stopped me dead in my tracks
had legs that stretched from hell to heaven
and a booty wrapped in yoga pants
she said hey big boy, twirled her hair
asked me if i had the time
i said #(@^( (@#* ))(KJ H)WW )@#(#
@) MK@)(0230}{>:">"')#)
yeah the older i get the more it's the same
there ain't no drug like a little bit of eye candy

Rather Be Lonely
05:02
|
|||
every once in a while i find myself
with a reason to go chasing somebody else
maybe something that i heard maybe something i felt
was there
i'd like to say that it's happened a couple of ways
but only one of one ending seems to know my name
fall in love without permission then there's nothing but space
wishes make a hollow sound
or what's left anyway
so i'd rather be lonely than heartbroken
all alone with a song and guitar
cause after while it's all the same
all your dreams they fly away
and what's left is a song and guitar
i should have learned my lesson the first time
but there was something i wanted to find
and that want is what'll make a kiss from a lie
now the lie is all there is as far's i can see
and i'm tire of wasting wishes on what ain't meant to be
all this love is superstition you don't even need
my heart ain't gonna leave this room
i know it ain't right
i'll get a dog and buy a boat
paddle up and down them creeks
find a place to watch the sunset
shine through the holes in me
i'll lie in bed awake alone
listen to the neighbors talk
listen to what i ain't supposed to
passing through the hollow walls
i'll keep a book full of excuses
i'll write new ones everyday
so when i'm asked to a wedding
i'll know just what to say
and when the holidays come round
i'll work em all this year
which ones i don't mind
which ones i don't care

Winyah
06:14
|
|||
underneath an oak tree
the medicine man
told me 'bout my sons dream
today i die
man that brings the sunset
with a blade from the
sea makes my ending
he stood there with his mother
as i pushed the canoe
and started for the marsh where
i'd wait out the day
he cried that he was sorry
for dreaming i
turned and i said
i'm gonna die one day
i'm gonna die one day
i'm gonna die
but not today
sun and creek and sawgrass
and oysters i picked
and thoughts about the last tide
that'd wash em away
is nothing really something
is dying the
last or the first thing
looking back to see home
across the bay
the sky was turning blood red
smoke blowing wrong
paddle all the faster
there's no wasting
time to get back
i'm gonna die one day
i'm gonna die one day
i'm gonna die
but not today
the crickets played for no one
the fire all gone
and lapped up on a sand back
face down my son
and still beneath that oak tree
the medicine
man stared to nothing
i'm walking in the last light
to the canoe
an oysters in the dirt now
shell in my hand
i'm swimming to that sand bank
i'm lying down
next to my son
i'm gonna die today
i'm gonna die today
i'm gonna die
and that's ok

Surprise
04:15
|
|||
sitting the back room of a house i don't know
with empty old bottles of wine
a ghost comes in to tell me good luck with what's to come
and our hello soon becomes a goodbye
waiting for the future to tell me what's next
and waiting for the past to tell me why
i wanna know what will be but it just makes god laugh
cause he only seems to deal in surprise
come on surprise
come on surprise
come on surprise me
ain't nothing wrong with getting just what you want
but i always prefer a surprise
last day in montana first day on the road
new is old was life be death am i
glaciers melt behind me and oceans rise ahead
and somewhere in between i'm alive
waiting for the future to tell me what's next
and waiting for the past to tell me why
i wanna know what will be but it just makes god laugh
cause he only seems to deal in surprise
come on surprise
come on surprise
come on surprise me
life isn't known for being just what you want
but i believe the best is always surprise
these plains they span forever put eternities to rest
but somehow i've been across them many times
america i love you and i hope you love me too
i love this world and i will when i die
waiting for the future to tell me what's next
and waiting for the past to tell me why
i wanna know what will be but it just makes god laugh
cause he only seems to deal in surprise
come on surprise
come on surprise
come on surprise me
never been to good at getting just what i want
but i always been good with surprise
